Trans people have always existed and can’t be erased

Image
Bitchstory landed in the top 15 women’s history podcasts!  The latest episode is here:  Transgender History   This week on Bitchstory, we recorded a long episode on the history of trans people and cultures who have acknowledged a “third gender”.  Documented history of non-binary gender expression goes back THOUSANDS of years!  It is important that people understand that Biden nor Obama nor any “woke” agenda created the concept of transgender.  Furthermore, the “trans agenda”  has absolutely nothing to do with you or me or other people’s kids or sabotaging civilized society or anything except just EXISTING.   So in this week’s blog, I’m noting several cultures, some ancient, wherein a third gender of some kind is acknowledged...  ************ Throughout history, many cultures around the world have recognized and embraced the existence of a third gender, often incorporating these identities into their social, spiritual, and cultural frameworks....

Today, on the Day we remember the king of peaceful protest, Martin Luther King, I am happy to present someone who worked alongside him, and I bet most of you have never heard of her… You can listen to the episode here:  https://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/MYncG1Hu8Pb Jo Ann Robinson: A Trailblazer in the Fight for Civil Rights Diane Nash: A Hero of the Civil Rights Movement Diane Nash, a pioneering leader in the American Civil Rights Movement, played a pivotal role in shaping the fight for racial equality during the 1960s. Born on May 15, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, Nash grew up in a relatively integrated environment but experienced the harsh realities of racism when she moved to the segregated South to attend Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her experiences there ignited a deep sense of justice and a determination to challenge racial injustice. Nash emerged as a prominent figure in the nonviolent resistance movement. Inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and mentor...

2 in a long list...part 1

We're back.  Happy 2025!  Remember in 1999 when we all worried that all the computers and clocks and databases were going to break?  Good times... Anyway, for our first episode in this new dystopian era, we picked out 2 civil rights leaders that you probably haven't heard of, because if we need anything, it's inspiration and hope for change... You can listen to the episode here:  https://spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/MYncG1Hu8Pb Jo Ann Robinson: A Trailblazer in the Fight for Civil Rights Jo Ann Robinson was a pivotal yet often overlooked figure in the Civil Rights Movement. Born in 1912 in Culloden, Georgia, Robinson became an educator and a fierce advocate for racial equality. Her contributions as a leader of the Women's Political Council (WPC) and her crucial role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott cemented her legacy as a key architect of the fight against segregation. After earning her degrees and becoming a professor at Alabama State College, Robinson quickly beca...

How do any women make it into history?!

Image
As we wrap up another year of Bitch-ing, I want to express my gratitude to our listeners and supporters.   It is honestly still a little surprising to me that the word "bitch" continues to trigger people.  I get asked regularly why we use such an offensive word in the title. I would like to note that none of those people were particularly supportive when we changed it to "Re-feminist History" for half of 2024.  So you just can't please everyone. And if you're a woman, you can't please most.  If you're a bitch, no one likes you so it hardly matters and you should just do what makes your rabid heart sing.  Not everyone understands what we are doing, and that's ok.  I still feel we are offering quality, educational information every episode.  Calling it Bitchstory is making a point about strong women in history being villainized.  Tudor Resting Bitch Face - Margaret Beaufort, ep 35 Our quote that we use every week is "well behaved women never m...

Rewinding to the beginning

This week, Lisa and I are going to go over our favorite Bitchstory episodes so far.  So in the spirit of revisiting favorites, here's some info on Sybil Ludington. Though "Bitchstory" goes back quite a bit farther, because I had Smarty Pants Lisa on my solo podcast as a guest for a couple years, our very first official Bitchstory episode was on Sybil.  And she's the embodiment of why we feel this podcast and research is so important.  Sybil rode farther, and did more for the mission than good ol' Paul Revere, yet most people have never heard of Sybil. We want to sing those unsung heroines, and we started with a teenager, doing the most, as our Nation was on the cusp of its independence...  Paul Revere’s midnight ride is widely celebrated, but the heroic efforts of a young girl named Sybil Ludington deserves equal recognition. At just 16 years old , Sybil played a pivotal role in the American Revolutionary War, demonstrating courage, determination, and a deep commi...

Cyclops and snow bunnies and wise women, oh my!

Listen  to the Podcast on  Spotify Listen on Apple Listen on the web  (NO APP NEEDED) Email me:  kelly@untamedmoon.com  (NEW EMAIL ADDRESS) LISTEN TO  Episode 82- cyclops and snow bunnies and wise women, oh my!  EPISODE  HERE It feels like weeks since I blogged. The blur of election grief I suppose. Anyway, voila here I am! On the podcast this week, Lisa and I did something different, far more light hearted. My mispronunciations of things will either make you cringe or laugh-cry. We had so much fun recording this episode. We both needed that lightness. We did both go off about a couple things but overall, it is just podcast lite. We discussed the Winter goddesses from our respective ancestry. Mine are Scottish, German, and Scandanavian. Lisa's are Asian and Native American. Scottish lore tells of a giantess with one eye, blue skin, and long white hair. She is called The Cailleach , the Hag of winter, and Queen Beira. The celtic explanation of t...

Soup of the Week - Bitch Soup

Image
So this week I thought I'd change it up and talk about this soup recipe I am loving.  This is a one pot meal that will please everyone in the family.   You'll need:   Chicken thighs, boneless and skinless wild rice cream of mushroom soup (canned) chicken broth (4 cups) half and half celery - 2 stalks, diced carrots - 2 carrots, diced onion - 1/2 white I'm just kidding. I want to talk about the horrors of living as a woman in the USA right now.  But here is a link to a soup I really love: https://www.food.com/recipe/copy-cat-panera-cream-of-chicken-and-wild-rice-soup-438883 I forgot to do a post last week, because the election had just happened. Needless to say, I am gutted by the result.  Many advisors and business owners try to walk a fine line with politics so that they don't alienate any potential clients.  Look, chances are very slim that anyone I might alienate with my political opinions is going to come to me for anything anyway. So fuck it...
