Hey Bitches, Comment allez vous? Good…great…oh, really? They did!?  That's crazy!
Ok good chat.
So this week appears to be heavy on the Mercury, which can be a very quick moving and rapidly changing energy, especially when it comes to intellect, ideas, thoughts, sometimes even feelings and mood.  So we must stay on our toes. Our intuition will be strong this week (Mercury sextile Neptune and Chariklo sextile Pandora), and we’ll be open and receptive to insight and changes (Pandora sextile Circe).  And that’s a good thing because It appears that there’s a bit of a mini spiritual crisis afoot (Mercury quincunx Vesta) as well, which goes hand in hand with the Mercurial energy.  We might be questioning if we are on the right path, headed in the right direction, using our gifts for the right goals and purposes.  These types of questions can create internal tension and conflict. But the good news is that these conflicts ultimately lead to deeper understanding of ourselves, especially if we are tuned in to our intuition (Mercury sextile Neptune, Circe trine Medusa)There’s also  a good peppering of positive relationship stuff this week. We are able to express ourselves better and more deeply, social lives are peppy, and we feel generally optimistic around our loved ones (Venus trine Jupiter, Mercury trine Juno, Juno trine Mars, Iris conjunct Venus). Some of the Mercurial changes can also affect relationship dynamics.
Mercury moves into Aquarius on Sunday, giving a progressive flavor to our collective and personal thinking. We might be craving something different for our relationships, our jobs, our path in general (Mercury quincunx Vesta, Mercury sextile Pallas at 29°,Mercury square North Node). Mars is also present this week, giving us a competitive edge in whatever we decide to tackle (Pallas trine Niobe), including those internal conflicts (Mars square north Node, Oya square Vesta). Mars can provide the motivation to make changes (Mars trine Uranus, Oya trine Mars).
Uranus is direct, and Mars teams up with him which creates motivation for change and growth, and a desire to break out of our norm. Mars trine Uranus is also reflected in an Oya trine Mars aspect. In fact, these 3 are in a Grand Trine this week.  Uranus is in Taurus, Oya is in Virgo, so Mars is getting this wild energy for both those directions. Check your inner chaotic villain (Oya trine Mars) so things don’t get too messy. Eyes on your own paper. It’s ok to be motivated by others, but we have to keep it within boundaries, right? Right. All this Mercury energy, and Mercury in Aquarius will help you get your facts in order to accomplish your goals.  Uranus and ALL the other major planets are direct, so what’s holding you back?
Of course there are caveats.  We have Lilith quincunx the Sun this week, so we will have to be aware of our past wounds around rejection and oppression and properly channel the rage that exists in us due to those things. And we have to keep an eye on our desire for revenge and our feelings of spitefulness (Niobe conjunct Nemesis, Pallas trine Nemesis).  Spite in and of itself can be utilized to move energy and make changes, but if left unchecked it gets crazy and we start projecting it onto the people who wronged us. As satisfying as that sometimes sounds, it’s usually a misdirection and poor use of energy.

This week’s scopes will focus on: Mars trine Uranus/Oya trine Mars,  Mercury sextile Neptune/Chariklo sextile Pandora, Mercury’s entrance into Aquarius, and the Lilith wound you are currently working on. (If you’d like to know your natal Lilith placement, contact me for a reading). Because honestly, how far can you really get in life if you’re unhealed? Trust me, not very! We are Bitches who have signed up to do the shadow work, so let’s get on it!

Hey Bitches,

I’m back on my bullshit *wink*

Some of you may have felt a little confused by last week’s goddess-palooza.  To put it in a single sentence - I have found meaningful parallels between traditional astrology and the transits of the goddess asteroids. And to make it clearer, I made a table - see I told you I’m on my bullshit. I’m a freak in the (spread)sheets!

On the left side are this week’s transits of the major planets and their traditional interpretations. On the right are some of this week’s goddess transits and their interpretations (which I did not make up…their info is out there.)  I’ve arranged them so the meanings line up.

This week’s main events are: Venus entering Capricorn, the Full Moon, and Uranus stationing direct.

When Venus enters Capricorn, things get down to business in relationships. Commitments and long term relationships are in, flings are out. Responsible handling of money and budgets is in, overspending is out. Beautiful timing right after the holidays, right? Venus also sextiles Saturn this week, which is much of the same energy as I just mentioned.

The Full Moon happens on Thursday 1/25 at 5° Leo at 9:53am pacific.  Full moons are for releasing.   Hopefully you  have an idea of what you want to leave behind with 2023’s energy.  This is the first Full Moon of the year, and it is appropriate that it gets a lot of attention because she’s in Leo. This is main character energy, and probably some drama. Leo invites us to listen to our heart’s desires. Leo is expressive, charismatic, and creative.  Leo rules the 5th house which relates to fertility, children, hobbies, romance, and what brings us joy.  Use this Full Moon to purse and release anything that might be holding you back.  Dream big! Follow your joy! Create something meaningful to you.  Heal your inner child.

The correlating goddess energies for the Full Moon are: Juno sextile Hela, which is about too much passion and some aggression…sounds like a full moon to me! Also Nemesis trine Lilith, which can portend some manipulative energy. And finally, Hela sextile Oya, which is very impulsive to a critical point.

When Uranus stations direct on Friday, we will have ALL the planets direct until April 1st! Yeah! No fooling! Get after whatever you’re getting after. This is a rare opportunity to carpe diem, because things are a bit more straightforward for the next couple months!  HOWEVER, when a planet stations to go either direct or retrograde, its energy is quite still, and these days are usually the most unpredictable.  And since unpredictable is Uranus’ middle name, this week is bound to be messy. Uranus will be moving slow for a couple days on either side of the station, and will not be up to full speed until the 2nd week of February. So…expect the unexpected.

There are a few really strong goddess transits that reflect the chaos of a Uranus station. Chariklo sextile Pandora indicates emotional sensitivity and  instability; Vesta square Oya is  restless and  unstable; and Ceres trine Eris will be trying to find the  balance between chaos and order.

The goddesses for Uranus are Pandora, Oya, and Eris.  Of those 3, the one you may not have heard of is Oya.  She is a powerful African goddess of storms and change. She controls the winds, thunder. lightning, tornados, hurricanes and other forces of nature. She is fierce, protective, and transformative. There is also a lot of death and rebirth symbolism associated with her, as with many goddesses. But I didn’t pair her with Pluto because her essence is one of embracing change and recognizing that disruption can be positive and transformative. Disruption can come in the form of new ideas, like breaking cultural norms, and can inspire and push us to overcome obstacles

“She is often represented as a strong, beautiful woman adorned with a sword and buffalo horns, symbolizing both her warrior nature and association with fertility and overcoming obstacles. Oya’s wind and storm attributes reflect her ability to invoke change and transformation, serving as a catalyst for personal growth. (Karades,2009). Oya’s association with the wind and storms emphasizes her transformative power. As the wind stirs and disrupts the environment, it corresponds to personal growth and change. Oya’s role in African mythology helps individuals confront their fears, initiate new beginnings, and embrace transitions.” (https://www.oriire.com/article/the-mythical-journey-of-oya-an-exploration-of-african-mythology)

“Oya is the protectress of women and patron of feminine leadership. Fiercely loving, She is wildly unpredictable and can change from benevolent, caring Mother to destructive Warrior in the blink of an eye. Passionate, fearless, sensual and independent, Oya is not a Goddess to be invoked lightly and must be treated with respect and care.”

https://journeyingtothegoddess.wordpress.com/2012/01/20/goddess-oya/

In Brazilian Candomblé, she is worshipped as “Iansã,” where she represents the protection of women. In Cuban Santería, Oya embodies modern women busting societal limitations, which is so Uranian. There are several African and Caribbean cultures who venerate her. It is with the utmost respect and admiration for these cultures and religions and to the rich goddess culture of Africa that I add her to the “Bitchtheon” as a representation of the power of disruption as a change-bringer.

So in summary, this week we need to recognize our impulsive behaviors and restlessness.  Try to recognize where it is coming from.  The energy of frustration is just excited energy that has hit a dead end and needs to be redirected.  Emotional “extraness” and drama are possible  as we approach this Full Moon in Leo. Use your inner Diva (but check her for arrogance) to heal yourself, fill your own cup with joy, or create something amazing.  Get clear on what you are ready to release and how you can utilize this period of time where all the planets are direct. RAWR. Happy Full Moon in Leo, Bitches! Be a Lioness!

Hey Bitches,

I have been on a journey this weekend writing these BitchScopes. I really don't know what came over me. I have been feeling a little meh about all my projects. But when I sat down to write BitchScopes, it's like I became possessed. It's 9pm on Sunday and I just finished them. Because I went down some delicious rabbitholes, and guys, BitchScopes are reborn! It's funny, because my birthday is this coming weekend, and the Pluto Cazimi is on my bday too. That has to be what's happening! Anyway, I hope you love them. Bitchscopes are going to go much deeper as we move ahead. You're gonna learn things you didn't know, like I have. But I did it like a friggi Gemini rising, or like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix...I know Jujitsu. That's how I feel right now...because...

When I sat down to write today, I went ham on Google instead and looked up about a zillion goddess asteroids, made a spreadsheet, sorted it 2 different ways (I’m totally serious), and then stared at it for about an hour. Bitchscopes have always been about finding your authentic self and voice, standing proudly in your personal power, having good boundaries, healing the wounded feminine, female empowerment, and standing up to the Patriarchy who has tried to make us shrink. Not to mention embracing the darker side of ourselves and deeming it every bit as worthy as the sweet and nice and pure and virginal and nurturing and motherly parts of ourselves.  I have learned through astrology to allow my wounds to heal me.  My shadow is a part of me and within it is this treasure trove of strength and power and badassness.  Embracing the Bitch is what this is all about. There’s plenty of sassy astrology out there that will tell you “you’re an aries so you’re a hard headed bitch”. But I am telling you how being a hard headed bitch can work for you, but you also have to get out of your own way and heal the wounds that make you too hard headed at times… you silly bitch.

Shadow behaviors are things like martyr complex, judgmentalness, jealousy, anger, impulsive, irrational, disconnected, unsympathetic, biased, arrogant, triggered…I think we are familiar with this stuff.  Embracing your Bitch is about learning to relax and allowing yourself to see and accept when you’re being a dumb asshole, and then letting it teach you something. Instead of being jealous, work on your self esteem, and the type of relationships you attract.  Instead of just being angry in a vacuum, (because women are conditioned to be nice) express your anger and allow it to move and motivate you. Mars rules anger, and Mars also rules movement. So take your anger and do something about whatever it is. Either remove yourself, enforce your boundaries, fire that person from your life, etc.  When you hear yourself being judgey, take a moment to think about the stupid shit you’ve done with your life. Unless that person’s shit is directly affecting you, don’t worry about it. Think about the ways you have been victimized in your life. Is there a pattern? What is it and can you figure out where it started? Some of this shadow work takes a long time, and some of it can happen in the moment. When you stop giving a shit what other people say about you, think of you, or preach at you, you are less resistant to recognizing your own shadow.

As the years have ticked by, I have felt a stronger and stronger pull to the goddesses. And over the last couple years, the “dark” goddesses have really called to me.  I always put “dark” in quotes because a) most of the goddesses labeled as dark and scary were just doing things to protect themselves or others, or they were perceived as powerful, or they were just sick of people’s shit and b)  I don’t think anything is just dark. Everything has a light and a dark side. Take Medusa for example…we grew up being taught that she was an ugly monster who turned men to stone. Wow, what a bitch. What’s her problem? And then Perseus cut off her head! yay! Bye bad lady!

Medusa was a priestess of Athena and vowed celibacy and to protect the honor of Athena and her temple. Medusa’s attitude problem comes from the fact that  she was raped by Poisidon in the temple of Athena. Athena, who also clearly has a dark side, was pissed that Medusa betrayed her (um, victim blame much?!!) and defiled the temple so she turned her into an ugly, horrible monster, and gave her madness and a power that any man that looked at her would be simultaneously horrified and turned to stone. (There’s some speculation that maybe Athena gave Medusa the power to protect herself, but…that’s a lot babe.)  After Perseus cut off her head, he gave it back to Athena, who made it part of her shield and used it’s killing powers in battle. So in the end she still defended Athena. Even though victims serve as sacrificial beacons that call our attention to real monsters, We STILL victim blame women and victims of assault and abuse constantly, in almost every society on Earth.

So I stared at my spreadsheet and I spent some time deciding who I wanted in my Pantheon of Bitches…Bitchtheon if you will.  I think the best way to deepen the astrology I give to you, is to introduce them a few at a time, based on what is intuitively grabbing me.  I made another spreadsheet (seriously, what the fuck is going on?!) with a list of all the major planets and which goddesses I would substitute for them. And It works!

As I write this, the Sun is at 23° Capricorn.  Freya is currently at around 20° Capricorn. She was at 17° during last week’s New Moon in Cap, which is within orb for a conjunction. Freya is the Norse goddess of love, fertility and battle and is also associated with the Sun. She rides a chariot pulled by cats, so that’s fucking cool…how do I get that going over here? Freya was said to be the most beautiful of the goddesses, but more than just a pretty face, she was also a the Queen of the Valkyrie.  The Valkyrie were a group of maidens that Odin sent into battle to decide which of the slain were worthy to enter Valhalla.

That’s a pretty powerful cat lady!

Having our Sun conjunct Freya is very empowering. She shows us how to use our unique skills, intuition and discernment.

We are getting ready to enter Aquarius, and Circe is around 7° of that sign. Circe is a witchy energy with the power of transformation, which is SO appropriate with Pluto entering Aquarius this week!

I think the goddess asteroids, with help from Venus and Eris (a major and minor planet) and the Moon, can be a more subtle energy to tap into, but they also feel so much more personal and have a lot more depth and detail.

Going forward, rather than a day by day run down I’m going to give you the overall energy for each week based on the goddesses, both “light” and “dark”. Both light and dark and equally badass, they just bring slightly different energies to the table. We don’t have to be nice all the time, guys.

This week is heavily colored by Pluto entering Aquarius and Pluto conjunct the Sun. Pluto Cazimi is a once in a lifetime thing. The patriarchy is already  infected from the inside out and is shitting its pants and acting a fool.  Pluto in Aquarius, especially this year when its in the early degrees and then retrograde, politics are going to get much uglier as they all freak out and make desperate grabs for keeping their power. All we want is balance and equality. Most  feminists don't hate men, or male leadership. We just hate shitty male leadership, and that’s most of what we have right now. That’s all we’ve had for 200 years or more. Especially in the US.  We used to lead the world, and now we are way behind.  We are too busy dying from the inside out. Anyway, off my soapbox…

The fact that Pluto and the Sun are entering Aquarius means that the energy of Aquarius is really big and will remain that way. It sort of overshadows everything.  The goddesses I have designated as Uranian (because Uranus rules Aquarius) are Eris the disrupter, Oya (a goddess we’ll talk about later), and Pandora, whose curiosity unleashed all sorts of things.  Chaos and Uranus are definitely kissing cousins, and if you know an Aquarius, you understand this.  Chaos is part of the creative process with an Aquarius. They have a vision that they can see very clearly through the mess.  If you have an Aquarius on your team, sometimes you have to trust that vision.

The transits and aspects of the goddesses indicate we will be questioning established thought and conventional wisdom this week. We will feel (more) rebellious and sometimes bored, and for some of us that will trickle into relationships. There’s an undercurrent of desiring change, but also being afraid of it. Change brings out insecurities.  But if we can trust our own intuition, which is very strong right now, we can experience a big boost of confidence. Trust your gut, even if all the conventional wisdom and tradition and everyone around you says something else. Always trust your gut. Lilith sextiles a solar goddess this week, so if you do the work of radical self acceptance, you can experience radical personal power and self love. And when you love yourself, you literally create waves of change in the world. People are empowered by confident self love. Can you imagine what social media would be like if the majority of (hell, even just “more”) people deeply loved and accepted themselves?!    Mercury exits the shadow this week too (on Saturday)

I’m kind of excited about this new BitchScopes, and I hope you are too.

Hello again magical bitches! My brain is overwhelmed with astrology so I’ll skip the small talk this week.

The highlight of this week is the New Moon in Capricorn. But before I dive into that, I want to touch on some other things I see.

There’s a definite theme of “Mission” and “Soul Purpose” in the undercurrents of this week’s astrology. Not only is Vesta pretty active this week, there’s also several aspects to the North Node of fate.  Vesta brought all her goddess friends too.  In addition to some aspects to each other, the Sun aspects Vesta, Eris, Pallas and Juno…and when the Sun makes an aspect, it’s a big deal. The goddesses almost seem to be getting a blessing from the Sun. Not all of those aspects are easy ones, so the goddesses have to make some corrections to their plans before launching them.  Venus is prominent again this week, suggesting that we are evaluating our values, as well as our innate value.

Monday Venus sextiles Chariklo, which gives us diplomacy skills. Mercury squares Neptune and Neptune squares Vesta, so there is general confusion, and confusion about “the mission”.  Mercury is opposite Vesta, suggesting there might be a fork in the road. Pallas quincunxes the North Node. Pallas is skilled, strategic, genius, and focused. The North Node is our “destiny” (which is a heavy word, but I do believe we have free will in how we get there.) But a quincunx means an adjustment is needed. We must deal with our shadows and insecurities before we set off on our quest.

Ok so that’s Monday. Yeah, it’s a busy week…

Tuesday the Sun trines Uranus and Mars sextiles Saturn.  The former is about free expression of our uniqueness. The latter is drive and determination, as well as perseverance.

Wednesday the Sun squares the North Node, suggesting that there are obstacles on the path to success and we might be a little complacent and resistant to the changes needed to move ahead.  (UGH!)

Thursday Venus trines Chiron, indicating that love heals and needs to be healed. Our girl Eris stations direct, but I don’t really find Eris’s orbit super meaningful. In this case I feel like she’s rallying the girls together to discuss the “mission”.  Watch out world. I think something is coming.

The New Moon is also on Thursday.  This is the first New Moon of the year and sets the tone to some degree.  She’s in Capricorn at 20°.  We can utilize this energy to create structure and firm foundations so we can get shit done.  Set ambitious intentions and work on manifesting things you want to work with long term. Capricorn is committed.  Your action is also required, as this is Capricorn, ruled by taskmaster Saturn.  You can manifest all day long but you have to take some small steps in the right direction.  The New Moon is trine Uranus, so expect the unexpected.  She’s also sextile Pallas, trine Juno, square Eris, and quincunx Vesta. This is such a power meeting of the goddesses! They obviously don’t all agree, but that’s why they are coming together - to get on the same page.  Something significant is going on with womanhood, which is obvious AF in the United States, as well as Iran, and let’s face it, everywhere! The Rise of the Feminine is not finished!

Friday the goddesses make several aspects to each other and Mars trines Jupiter, which gives us a competitive drive.  The Sun trines Juno and sextiles Pallas. The former gives us freer expression within our relationships and the latter gives us a channel to use our talents for social change!

Saturday Mercury re-enters Capricorn, post retrograde. Communication and ideas can really gain footing and move forward now. Vesta also sextiles Eris, indicating they are aligning more on how to achieve the mission.

Sunday Venus trines the North Node, and this is interesting because it indicates that others can recognize your talents and potential.  It’s one thing for us to know ourselves. It’s another level of empowerment when other people validate us.  Venus also quincunxes Uranus and this is a vibe of not wanting to be too entangled with other people’s energy but finding it somewhat unavoidable…ring ring…your calling is calling.  Finally the Sun quincunxes Vesta and squares Eris. The former indicates your ego is in the way of fully being on your path. The latter is a catalyst for change. Embrace the disruptive energy. Use the tension and discomfort of the square to solve the problem. The Sun is only square to Eris twice a year, once at 22° of Capricorn and again at 22° of Cancer.  In Cap, these disruptions affect our public persona, identity and the structures confining us as women.  In Cancer, she asks us to question our roles as mothers.

This week she is really stirring things up, and bringing all her badass girls with her to the party.  As we set our intentions for this Capricorn New Moon, let’s envision a foundation that is not built on repression, alienation, judgement, and control, but one of empowerment, equality, and acceptance.  Imagine a world where we reminded each other of our strengths instead of stepping on each other’s heads to get up the ladder.  It does sound a little pie-in-the-sky, but that's because we are so drenched in the sludge of the  toxic, hyper- masculine patriarchy that we have forgotten anything else. Dare to dream! No matter your gender, surround yourself with strong, confident feminine energy and see what happens. Pick a goddess and study her this week, or maybe all year. It is amazingly inspirational and empowering.

I think I will build on last week’s “word for the year”.  As I read them in order, it almost feels like a life story. Check this out and see if it doesn’t make you think of life cycles: destiny, experiment, potential, quiet, independent, explore, adventure, connection, develop, liberation, renaissance, prioritize.  To me it feels like this, and I didn’t intend this: you’re born, you’re a toddler trying everything, you’re a grade schooler where you really start to show your stuff, you’re a teen in your room 20 hours a day, you go to college, you’re now an adult with the freedom to do what you want, now you have responsibilities (ain’t that an adventure?!), then you meet your people &, maybe find love, you develop a relationship with yourself and others, you learn how to heal and free yourself from some of your wounds (your 40’s?), you rediscover yourself (your 50’s?), then you get your shit in order (maybe lather, rinse, repeat). Wow. unintended profundity!

I’m going to build on that, and I’m also feeling really called to work with the “dark” feminine this week so I may include a goddess as part of this week’s scopes, with a focus on the New Moon in Capricorn as our ever practical and grounded guide for the year…
